SOLD! Thousands of livestock funnel through Lanesboro Sales Commission each week
For more than 65 years, area livestock buyers and producers have had a place to buy and sell their animals in tourist-minded Lanesboro, Minn.
The Lanesboro Sales Commission started in 1947 and was eventually purchased by Joe Nelson of Mabel, Minn.
He's now in his 27th year as a combination of customer, partner and owner at the auction barn, a family-run business with many relatives helping in the office and the barn in day-to-day operations.
Customers come from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, Nelson said.
"We've been fortunate to have loyal customers," he said. "A lot of repeat business."
Auctions run weekly year-round, including a Wednesday cattle auction and Friday livestock auction.
